Porch Intro And Memory Lane Plan

SPEAKER_03

Q the static, let it spin. Old songs, new scars, tune it in. From the back porch to the Adam Glow, these memories still steal the show. We laugh. We ran, we played loud. No filter talk. No fake radio crowd. You know the voice, you know the plan. MTO turn in a pipe cast. Memory lane FL.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back everyone to the MT Alternative Podcast.

SPEAKER_01

Tom, what's going on, buddy? Not much, Mike. Uh just chilling and having a good day. What's up with you?

SPEAKER_00

Same old, same old my friend. Enjoying the sports time. Man, it's awesome. It is another great day in North Carolina.

SPEAKER_01

Just beautiful, man. Which brings me to my first thought. You have thoughts? Yeah. Partly cloudy. Partly cloudy. Partly sunny. It's a battery day. So what's the difference? Is it partly cloudy or partly sunny?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So last week we started a different journey on our podcast. We have our turn in a podcast. But our main title will be Memory Lane Foundation. We're doing a lot of songs. It doesn't matter what year, we're just going through songs we both like and memories to open our minds. A lot of different years. We're not fucking card before now. I think we mentioned this before we're doing every year of songs. And we were gonna re-make music again, but at our own page and right now. We had our little half hour at work this week, yesterday and Friday. I remember that from uh Rocky and Bowling Congress. People are like, what the hell is Rocky and Bowling? Check it out. Anyway.

Ozzy Osbourne And Coming Home

SPEAKER_00

Let's just start with music.

SPEAKER_01

We love music. Alright, well music. We're just um I'm gonna blow everybody's mind this week because everybody knows my far fire, and everybody knows my country music. There's a side of me that a lot of people don't understand, and I just want to let everybody know that it's not always the story of the song. It's the beat and the music that really grabs hold of somebody. And this is this is now the first song that I want to do is not that way, but but a lot of his music was that way to me, but but the first one I want to do is Mama I'm coming home.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I'll play that right now.

SPEAKER_09

Times of change and times of strange here I come by the same Mama, I'm comin' home Time come by seems to be You could have been a better friend to me Mama, I'm comin' home You took me there to be out there found it to round alright to make the right old Ozzy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's it's hard. And the reason that song hit real hard with me this week it kind of made me remember the time, and all your older people who've listened to us from the very beginning understand that I took off a hitchhiking one time and and you know, my mom coming home is kind of when coming back and I came back and started over again.

SPEAKER_00

It's a good song, I'll be honest. I can't get much clean. I like the song, I'm not saying about that when it really kind of I got the initial feeling of the song and I understood the song more. Exactly. You know, I love the song for Sharon pretty much. And when you see him in that state, you know, when you used to seeing Auggy just being Augie and seeing how he was then, but just the emotions came out.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. You know just a wonderful thing, but that was one of my favorite.

SPEAKER_00

I guess we'll do that right now.

Why The Beat Hits First

SPEAKER_01

That was a good run for me.

SPEAKER_00

Great song.

SPEAKER_01

Good run for me.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, excellent pick. Can never go wrong with Ozzy.

SPEAKER_01

He he just was part of it.

SPEAKER_00

And like I said, I'm sorry I never got into that song as much until that happened. And then I realized you know me. I always said it's the music that grabs me first. I'm never really into the lyrics as much. Exactly. I'll learn the lyrics later, but of course it's the music that just grabs me.

SPEAKER_01

And I think that's what's going on with me this week. Just the music that grabbed a hold of me when I was a kid.

SPEAKER_00

That's why we're doing this. Exactly why we're doing this.

SPEAKER_01

And it's just a shock because everybody expects it to be country and this is another side of me. And this is cool, because I I love the show.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's the same with me. We have people who you have being or whatever. And maybe you have your hard rock side. Maybe not as much. And I have my hard rock side of time if I do like other kinds of music. And you have to play the movie new. Oh, yeah. Alright, so I guess it's my turn to pick a song now. Yep. And I have one in mind. Okay.

INXS And Hearing Lyrics Differently

SPEAKER_08

Don't take me out. Don't take a fair Don't take me out. Don't take a face.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that I watched one time with uh Nicolas Cage.

SPEAKER_00

It's definitely an 80s sound. That's the band in Excess from Australia.

SPEAKER_01

In Excess, see.

SPEAKER_00

That song had some reason that song, that's with the lyrics. That's like one of the first I mean, I shouldn't say project, but it's one of the songs that I started really listening to lyrics on, and it's just it hit me a different way. Right. I love the song. I love the band.

SPEAKER_01

It does have a great, great vibe.

SPEAKER_00

You know, that he died and the way he died and all that. But yeah, that band was to me that that was one of those 80s bands that I loved.

SPEAKER_01

An excess.

SPEAKER_00

And I know a lot of people you know, me, I am a hard rock guy, but some of that 80s music really got to me. Well, it hit. It hit right. It hit in a lot. And to this day I love it. So uh we'll continue on with it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Good sound. Good vibe. Yeah, this is a great song. Great. It reminds me of modern English. Yeah, a little bit. A little bit. Melt with you. Modern English. Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

So, okay, and what do you got next, Tom? All right. You gonna surprise us? Well, probably so. All right, I'll let you put it on and surprise us. There you go.

Guns N Roses And Pure Adrenaline

SPEAKER_08

Don't make it worse here every day. You gotta take up for what you see. Take it eventually. You didn't have an event, you won't, but you better not take it from me.

SPEAKER_00

All right, guns and roses, Tom. Time's going a little harder here today. I pulled one on you.

SPEAKER_01

It's going my way. I just gotta tell you this era kind of pulled me into the rock. I mean, you can't be an American and not enjoy that beat. That is awesome.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that's when we all just tons of face back then.

SPEAKER_01

It was just bam, there they were. And and you just that that makes you feel good when you hear that song. I don't know what it is about it, but it makes me want to bleed.

SPEAKER_00

Seeing it live is even better. I mean, personally, I haven't seen him live, but plenty of videos, and that song shit's ass, man. It's pretty much fire.

SPEAKER_01

I would like to see him live, but yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That was a good song for me. Now, not so much. Axel's voice is put shit back in the in their prime. Right. I would have loved to bend this seeing them in concert. Of course, they were being arrogant about it too, but uh we'll dive right back into it, Thomas. Sure. Great song, Tom. Enjoyed that one too. Great song. Yeah. That gets everything pumping.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. See, that's just shows you doesn't matter what genre you are.

SPEAKER_00

If sometimes if not more. LA Tracy guns and actual roach. I think that's from what I heard the story. That was actually starting guns and roaches. Tracy guns ended up leaving. That's pretty much what I've understood. But I love LA guns. Another song for another day. Actually, Tom. Like I said, right up my alley. I enjoyed it. Sounds like a little bit. What do you think we like right now?

SPEAKER_01

My goodness. What's next?

SPEAKER_00

Well, gives us a little break, too.

Off-The-Rails Porch Comedy Break

SPEAKER_01

Sure.

SPEAKER_00

We'll be right back, folks.

SPEAKER_02

Damn it. What are you laughing at, Squeak? Yeah. Every goddamn time I come in here. Ah, well. Yeah, oh well. Hey, by the way, while I'm doing this, how's your old buddy, Mr. Squirrel? I love the soundtrack to the video I saw. There's no soundtrack. It looked like you were getting into the was there music? No, there's no music. There's no music showing that to you? What? What? Wait a minute. We're recording. We're recording. Hey! Wait, what's up, buddy? Hey! What's going on? Uh, well, we kind of copy off the I I didn't know we were recording. Well, but since we already started, what's going on with the uh music? What music? I think it was uh delightfully done. What's that move for what I was watching? What music are you talking about? You know what I'm saying? What did you hear? You heard that we get out that's okay. Yeah. What are you just about to say? Oh, oh, oh, oh. Okay, well, I was gonna say, okay, but anyway. Well, popping up everywhere. It's a great thing, it it kinda is. Well, if you think about it, it just I don't know, it's a lot different than when we were going to a new town. Yeah, good old days when you walk in and the matrix with him. Maybe see the kid, maybe cat one of his exotic animals. My guy had the bow constructor. I wouldn't man, not only that, yeah, put it around your neck. It's cool. Come on, man, everybody does it when they come here. Listen, I like your weed. Three hours later when I woke up. I wouldn't have done that shit, extra bag of weed. Well, as long as you're a glance. I don't think okay, listen, smart ass when do you ever see a iguana running across your yard when you're mowing? Well, see, that's just it. I don't live in Florida. Okay, okay. Okay, but anyway, yeah, anyway. We're going in the wrong direction. But when you get the guy and he's like, oh big water, watch the money, and then all of a sudden I buy the stuff I'm there to get. Yeah, you wanna try it out? Yeah, yeah. So I go on. Wait a minute, why are you letting the dealer try to shit you just off of them? See? That's what you get. Why are you doing that? Oh yeah, why don't you do one, man? Okay, so that happened all the time. Oh, dude, after I was strangled by a snake, it was pretty cool with me. Every time I went there, he's like, What do you leave? I'm gonna roll it up. This is the stuff I got you want me to try. Okay. My guy, after the snake strangled you out, man, then you're good, you know? You can like go. Or you know, he just didn't want me to sue him. I don't know. But a snake is a snake, and I'm not touching a well, that's dumb shit. Okay. It was a one-off. Let's be realistic. It benefited me. It was like, what do you need? Here you go. Wait a minute, wait a minute. That's like saying a magic bullet or shoot you in your damn ass. Yeah. And it's gonna benefit you. Is it only once? No, this is only half and once. Remember that. Anyway. Everybody wants to know about good old Russell Louise. Well she had to. Oh, that's true. You don't really have a job, so you have the money to be here. Well, you must have been in your glory. No, it was not a glory, oh. It was like a kind of easy, all right. Wait a minute. No, that didn't happen, but I got things to do now. What like what? Like how did you wait a couple of minutes? That's why she's losing weight. Okay, that's why you're not in the side. Are you not listening? I'm listening, okay, that's why she's losing weight. How long has she been stuck in this hall so far? Until well, from the time she got in until like now are we talking minutes, hours, days, weeks? No, not weeks. Days, baby? You just out of this little thing that I just told you, just pop in your head now. You wanna get out of here pretty fast once I said that. And you never take off of it. Oh yeah. Well, she's always real, real wild guy. It hasn't worked yet, sweet. Anyway, you're gonna stay here. I wanna tell you about Katina and I. We gotta change a plan. You gotta change a plan. Things are different now. Oh, I bet so. We moved up the wedding day. Yeah, she's gonna hit out of you. Why would she get a hit out of you? She wants to marry me. Yeah, to get all your shit. What shit do I have? What your life and shirts look like. I don't have any. She knows. She puts them out on me. I have no idea. You can't do that when I'm married yet. Nope. You can't do it even when you love me. Why are you laughing? I don't know. You know I'm with her all the time. Because I saw have you seen her? Yeah, of course I see every part of her, and she's not a lady boy. Stop saying that. Okay. Anyway, a little creature is real. Okay. She don't have no twine or nothing to have a wheel. No, no apple, no tree, nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Okay. Hundred percent woman. Greek goddess. Yes. Just like Michelle. Nice long. Like Michelle. Yeah, just like Michelle. Who are you talking about? Michael? Michael Michelle. Nothing like that. Nothing like that. Yeah, well. You see her. Yeah, like the so good. Okay. Like the so good. Anyway, you're just jealous. Rigalous, yeah. You'd be happy if I got myself a good ear blank at home. I have a good ear bl I know. You don't seem too happy about it most times. Sometimes I just told you she's stuck in a hole. I gotta go. You don't have to go yet, sweetie. We gotta help her out. I'm not going with you to help anything. No, you don't have to go. Oh you said we have to help her. No, I have I have to help her out. Okay. No. No. We're under obligations here. Oh, obligations. Tom gives you beer for the stupid time you're sitting here. I haven't even drank this beer yet. But you opened it already. You might as well you own it now. It's an emergency situation. You already opened it, sweet. You can drink it all the way. You really gotta go sweet. That bad. Your little thing. Listen, this is about the only time I mean I got it before. How did you not think of this? Well now just think how you stuck there for a couple of days. It's probably gonna be some moist butt juice. See, now you don't wanna leave, do you? Yeah, I thought so. I'm just telling you what's happening right now. Fermented moist butt juice. So, hey, as you were saying, I wanna leave? Yeah, I gotta go home and wash your ass. Alright, folks. Obviously, this is a yoga. We're gonna let scream take off. Later, folks.

A Pop-Rock Cover Surprise

SPEAKER_02

Bye!

SPEAKER_00

Alright, I guess we'll move on. Yeah, sure, sure. Got one to see if this one surprises you. Now, I'm gonna admit this one is a cover from an old song. An older group. You probably recognize the song. If not, I will stop halfway through and I'll tell you.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Who does love the bangles?

SPEAKER_00

I love that song. I love that version. The first time I actually heard it was on the movie Lesson Zero. Right. But anyway, that was a great movie. Rather Downey Jr. played a great part. Great song. I love that song. Watching that movie. I mean, there's a couple songs in it. I think Poison's a cover of song. I can't remember. Poison's on there doing a cover of a song. It's a good soundtrack.

SPEAKER_01

But anyways, right?

SPEAKER_00

Let's move on to what you have in store. All right.

Disturbed As A Work Anthem

SPEAKER_00

All right. Disturb. Tom's going. Yeah, this is not the side. What bizarre a wor world are we in where Tom's playing hard rock and Mike's playing kind of pop rock? But this is what this is about.

SPEAKER_01

This is what we do.

SPEAKER_00

We have different judges.

SPEAKER_01

But music brings us all together. It doesn't have to be much better than yours. Yours is better than mine. Nothing like that.

SPEAKER_00

It's about appreciating what the other person's music is.

SPEAKER_01

The music that we're hearing is just bringing us together. That's what it ought to be.

SPEAKER_00

That's true. Alright, should we continue? Let's get it done. Get it done.

SPEAKER_06

Don't die.

SPEAKER_01

All right, disturbed. Yeah. A little disturbed there. A little bit. I'm telling you, that's what makes me love that song, though. That's a good working tune.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's just all that work. I load those trucks. It's a great song for that.

SPEAKER_01

That just I mean makes you get up and do whatever. Yeah. It's a good song.

SPEAKER_00

It is a bizarre world today. Yeah. All

Duran Duran And MTV Nostalgia

SPEAKER_00

right. I got another little surprise for you, Tom. Oh boy. I know you've heard this one. Alright, Tom. Durant Definitely Replace. Oh my god. Remember that coming on MTV? Yeah. CGI waterfall coming out and everything. It just seems so cool to me. It was. It was such a great song. I loved the bass line through this whole song. Duran Duran was a great band. If it was not for fun of people like it, but Durant Duran were not there.

SPEAKER_01

They were good. But listen, if it was not for MTV and videos. Exactly right.

SPEAKER_00

Man, the 80s were MTV because you put it on. It was like a radio, but you got rid of it.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, girls just want to have fun. If you were into wrestling, you got that. You got everything on MTV. It was wonderful. I mean, who knew Cindy Lauper's dad was a wrestler? Come on.

SPEAKER_00

All right, let's get back into Duran Duran. Yes.

SPEAKER_08

I'm on a ride and I'll get off. But then you won't slow down the round about the money. Don't want to be around when this is out.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, Tom. Duran Duran. Durandoran. That brings back some memories, let me tell you. And I love that song. I love that song to this day, obviously.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they had good music. I mean, that's what it's about. They're still around today.

SPEAKER_00

And actually, one of my favorite places to John Taylor, Andy Taylor on guitar. I'll be on that at a different time, but Andy Taylor left and get his own stuff and I didn't get it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's not okay. But uh that's not gonna be mixed up with Andy Taylor. Play guitar on Andy Taylor show.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, no. All right, Tom, what you got next, buddy?

SPEAKER_01

All right, well, you're gonna be surprised about this. All right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm can't wait.

Drowning Pool And Walkout Energy

unknown

Get the go, get the goal, get the go, one, nothing wrong with me, two, nothing wrong with me. Three, nothing wrong with me, four, nothing wrong with me.

SPEAKER_08

One, something's got to kill two, something's got to kill. Three, something's got to kill Let the body set them go, let the body set them go, let the body set them.

unknown

Let the body set them through, let the body set them go, let the body set them go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, gotta tell ya, if you had that as your alarm system when someone broke in and that song started playing, started shitting their pants. Listen, man, some of the best guitar players these guys are so freaking talented.

SPEAKER_00

I know that would be a good like uh MMA fighter coming out.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly something. I mean, this is a an end chance. I'm on top of everything going on. What's up? Let's do it. Get it done. And let the body set the floor, man. This is this will get you going. There you go. Let's do it. Let's go back a little bit. Let's play.

SPEAKER_08

Nothing wrong with me, three, nothing wrong with me, four, nothing wrong with me, stop it's got to kill two, stop it's got to kill three, stop it's got to kill, just the gold, that's the fire, just the gold, that's the fire, just the four, just the gold, that's the fire, just the gold, that's the fire, just the gold, that's the job, that's the thing wrong with me, that's that's wrong with me, three, that's the wrong with me, nothing wrong with me, stop that's got to kill two, stop that's got to kill, three, stop that's got to kill the goal, let's the body set the goal, let's the body set up the body set the boat, let the body set the goal, let the body set the goat, go, go, go, go!

SPEAKER_01

All right, Tom. Yeah, there you go. Wake up to that. Yeah, I think I just did three times. Enjoyed that.

SPEAKER_00

Kick ass. Kick ass song, kick-ass song. All right. I'm gonna go back in the vault

Deep Cut Discovery: Stars Cherry Baby

SPEAKER_00

a little deeper. Okay. And I don't think you or too many people have ever heard of this song. Okay. So let me put that on.

SPEAKER_08

We're a master, he has lost the day.

SPEAKER_00

All right, Tom. Have you figured it out? No? No. It's a band called Stars. Stars. This song is Cherry Baby. Now, I want people to know these guys actually rock a little harder. But this is one song I fell in love with when I was young. I got the 45, it's like a goldish yellowish color. Right. It's fucking in this song. And then when I said they have an album called Arena Rock, it f ⁇ ing rocks. But anyways, I'll I'll go, I'll play the end of it, we'll talk about it when it's done. Heck yeah.

SPEAKER_08

My dreams fly of trusting your precious, that was the band Stars.

SPEAKER_00

Band back, I think pretty sure they were out of New Jersey. Right. They're a great band. I just they didn't get their news. There was a lot of things that happened if you read the history on them, but if you dig in the stars, that song was more like a pop rock. They do a lot of heavier stuff. They opened up for a lot of big bands, but people check them out. Like I said, if you like that kind of music, like I said, they uh do a lot of different things in the heavy. Arena Rock is one of my favorite albums from everyone. One of those games, like I said, a lot of people never heard of. So you're up next, Ron. I guess I've been surprised all so far, so I guess I'll see what's next.

Heavy Picks And No-Genre Rules

SPEAKER_08

Get out of the chat.

SPEAKER_00

Heavy. Surprise, surprise, surprise.

SPEAKER_01

But I gotta tell ya. Do you tell Tom? That is displayed in all of this music that I have brought up today.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man, I mean, I can't wait. A lot of these guys are the heavy metal bands are in the jazz rhythm and blue. This is what they're putting butter in. This is what makes them money.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean, just don't limit yourself. Doesn't really matter the vocals to the music. The music that brings us all together. All right, let's dive back into Maryland.

SPEAKER_00

That song does kick ass. Yep, that just man, bro. Like I said, again, another good song for working. Yeah. That's just me. I like those heavy jump songs that jump.

SPEAKER_01

That's me. That's like a good sativa jump. There you go, exactly. Bones and get you going.

SPEAKER_00

All right.

Deep Purple Finale And Takeaways

SPEAKER_00

So we're down to my last song.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, let's see what you got.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna bring things back my way. Okay, bring them back to normal. And this shouldn't surprise anybody.

SPEAKER_08

Don't run out of love, you show me where you're following. Magic in your high, which is all you can't hold. Stand up for your head, we be bummed while I'm out here. All my love, don't work. I do want to Now I'm coming with you down the road and told me.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, Tom. Deep purple. That'll definitely bring you. Deep purple. Bring you back. What are we gonna say? That'll bring you back. Fireball is a great frickin' song. Not bad drink either. Nope. Nope.

SPEAKER_00

If you get the right one. Oh, right. Not that fake shit. But, anyways, this song kicks fucking ass. Oh yeah. I had to end it with this one. Oh yeah. One of my favorite deep purple songs.

SPEAKER_01

This is one of my favorite podcasts. This is so far.

SPEAKER_00

This is great.

SPEAKER_01

One of my favorites podcasts.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad we're doing what we wanted to do originally.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we we finally got it figured out and came together on this. This just shows you. Man, everybody's music, it doesn't matter. It just brings you together. Nope. It's all the music we grew up with, Tom and I.

SPEAKER_00

And I'm sure a lot of people bring back jog memories for you too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So, well, let's dive back into Deep Purple Fireball. Get her done.

SPEAKER_08

Gemini, and I don't know which one I like the most. My hand is getting broken and my mind is getting pulled. But now I'm coming with you down the road.

SPEAKER_00

No doubt. That rocks. This whole fucking episode rocked. Started off with mom. Mom, you surprised me with your selection of songs. I gotta admit, I'm glad. I like everything you played, but this one was exceptional. Right up by the alley, buddy. I enjoyed this. And I know you weren't trying to appease me for this.

SPEAKER_01

You had no idea what you were doing. You had no idea what I was doing. I was actually that's why we that's why I loved this. And that's what happened today, and that's what we do on the porch, man. We just get out here and enjoy life the way it's meant to be.

SPEAKER_00

I remember the 200th, man. Yeah, just just everybody.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Everybody just decided you're gonna don't worry about so much. You know, it's it's about where we live.

SPEAKER_00

Everybody, America is a great, great country. North America. I don't even care if you're a Mexico man. It's a great party. We all have our badge party, North America, man. America's alone, we are number one, we know it.

SPEAKER_01

And and it still shows.

SPEAKER_00

So everybody be proud. Don't let anybody get you down. No, no.

SPEAKER_01

This was a fantastic party.

SPEAKER_00

Excellent, Tom. Had a great time tonight.

SPEAKER_01

Me too, and uh I almost hate to see it go. But once again, we'll always thank God for the gift of Gab.

SPEAKER_00

Everybody take care. God bless later.
