Speaker 2Not a hell of a lot . Tom Sat here on the computer screwed around on that for a little bit . Had to fix my doorknob , as you know . Yeah , locked out of my house , but anyways yeah uh , you had a birthday party yesterday for your grandson . We did turned eight way to go corb awesome , awesome . Hey , have a good time he did excellent racked up .
Speaker 3Now he now has more money than I do and most kids probably do have more .
Speaker 2Yeah , they probably do . They need one of us .
Speaker 3They probably do yeah , unfortunately . But yeah , he did . He had a great time . There's a lot of people showed up , excellent . Did you have it at your house ? No , we had it at a park up in the mountain River running through there . A river runs through it yeah , a river runs through it and they fly fished and they played basketball .
Speaker 2That sounds like a good time actually .
Speaker 3Except for the 15-minute thunderstorm that came through and blew everything off the table , and we had to chase it down .

Speaker 3I look at the bright side . We did not have a bouncy house . It's a good thing then .

Speaker 3Exactly , exactly which brings us to Memorial Day and what it really means , exactly , just to want to shout out to all of the fallen men and women that have served our country and made this possible , just that we can get on here and just ramble on like a couple of idiots .

Speaker 3A story ? Yeah , I have no stories .
Speaker 2You all know I have no stories . This is a story of a lovely lady . No , they were telling me about this coin thing , oh yeah , there is a coin thing that I just realized .
Speaker 3Actually I was reading through Facebook and some other stuff and it said the significance of the coins left on a tombstone .
Speaker 2Now , you know , and a lot of the people yeah , I see a lot of people leave coinage .
Speaker 3Right and you know , and a lot of people know believe coinage right and you know , and a lot of people know that I actually live in a place that's got a old grave site there next to the house the grave site of tom doula and I noticed there's coins on there from time to time right but nothing major .
Speaker 3So you know , just pennies or not . I'm like why do they leave money ? Well , I learned this week why Do tell ? Evidently , if you see a penny on a headstone , a penny means that you went to boot camp with this soldier , okay . A nickel means you served with this soldier , okay . A dime , I think , means that you fought , means you served with this soldier Okay . A dime , I think , means that you fought beside this soldier . And then a quarter supposedly means that you were with him when he died .
Speaker 2Dang .
Speaker 3So I may have that paraphrased a little bit , but the significance of the coins are something I never knew , I did not know that ? I never either , and it just saddens me that there's a significant . It's kind of like motorcycle riders you ever notice how they throw the two fingers down ? Yes , and a civilian guys that drive four wheelers . We don't know what really that means until we read about . You know and once again I'm paraphrasing but someone told me that the two fingers down means keep two wheels on the ground .
Speaker 2So that's just . It's funny how I see more riders of Harleys do that than more than I see Suzuki's or Yamaha's's Kawasaki's . No , we're not talking about her right now . This is real , I got you . I got you Anyways .
Speaker 3But yeah , it's just a special weekend for all of us and the neat things that we learn about things every time .
Speaker 2No , that is like I said , tom . I never knew the significance of that anyways , either myself .
Speaker 3And you know , hats off to the people who decide that they're going to do a special thing for those folks .
Speaker 2Right , who have passed on ? Thinking about something ? Okay , thinking about buying a new grill .

Speaker 2No , I need a new grill . I'm not sure if I should get a griddle or a regular grill .
Speaker 3Okay , here's . Here's the thing if you get a griddle , you can do cakes the hell , I want to make it bake a cake on a griddle ? I don't know , but john denver seemed to think it was a great idea cakes on the griddle .

Speaker 3okay , that's cool I got me old farm and I got the hamburgs are cool .
Speaker 2What about steak . There's cakes on the griddle . How good can a steak ?

Speaker 3Is a griddle close to a cast iron skillet , kind of Okay . This being said , one of the very best steaks I ever made was in a cast iron skillet Kind of Okay .

Speaker 3Sear it in the steak , so anyway . But I put the cast iron skillet in the oven at 500 degrees for five minutes .

Speaker 3Pulled it out and put it on a hot , the high eye on the stove .
Speaker 2Okay .
Speaker 3Okay , I put a little olive oil in there and threw that steak on each side for 30 seconds . All right .
Speaker 2So do you think I'm going to run out on my griddle ? Bring it to the oven , then bring it back to the griddle ? That sounds foolish . Why don't I just get a grill that I actually get a griddle , a little griddle , to put on it . Okay , then I get . See , yeah , if you want to do it , these you don't have answers for everything , tom no , no .

Rambling About Society and Beliefs
Speaker 4Lots of stuff , but there is one thing in particular . Tell me . Tell me , why is it that every time somebody has something that they want to talk about , it's the most important thing in the world , even if you don't want to hear it . Who's doing this talking ? Have you listened to the news ? I try not to . Yeah , I tried . That Didn't work . So Well , I'm watching it . Okay , in disgust , wow . Well , you get this heartfelt story Right About a little kid who wants to have an autograph , okay , from his hero on a sports team . All right , but the guy that is his idol doesn't want nothing to do with him . So he jumps in his car , speeds up and , in the process , runs over his foot . Wow , yeah , wow , and that happened in October . Okay , from what I understand , this guy baseball player , I'm sorry , basketball player has not attempted in any way , shape or form to contact or reach out to this little boy .
Speaker 4Did he know he hit the kid ? Who cares ? By now he has to . Well , that's true . I mean , it's October , you have people everywhere . Well , people have stuff going on , you know . Well , when your team got a lawsuit slapped against him , I'm sure you found out then you ran over a little kid . Wait a minute , did he run him over ? Or did he just run his foot over ? Only his foot , okay , which was connected to his leg , which was connected to his body ? So , yes , ran him over .

He'll get over it , okay , which brings me to what really gets my goat . Okay , when I was in the 8th grade , right , I had a teacher that I looked up to a whole lot . Was it a woman or a man ? He was male , and was he really tall ? Because you said you looked up at him . Well , back then he was to me because I was short .
Speaker 4But , anyway , he taught me a lot about myself and how to keep pushing . Okay , are you a speed wagon ? Yeah , I keep pushing up . Yeah , yeah , good . Okay , reo Speedwagon yeah , keep pushing on , right , yeah , yeah , good , cool .
Speaker 4But what got me is he's all the time telling everybody don't quit , you're going to be all right , it's going to do good , be a mule , stay in school , all this other stuff . So you really look up to him , okay . And then when you grow up and you find him on Facebook and he's a completely different person than what you remember , or yeah , so he's a completely different person . Now , yeah , from what I remembered in school , he was so uplifting and I was kind of a bad student and I didn't really do my best all the time . Why , well , I was lazy , but anyway , he picked me up and he kept saying keep going , you're better than this .
Speaker 4Okay , he taught all my older brothers and sisters and what's different now ? Well , when you grow up , you become your own person , right , and you believe things that you believe , okay , well , then you find out this guy don't believe anything at all , like you do Nothing , and it kind of . Well , you can have difference of opinions , tom , sure you can , and I don't be grieving for that , but the difference that he had . I thought , wow , how does he not believe what I do ? Because what I do I don't want to make it political , or religious or anything .
Speaker 4So I'm trying to be careful , but how do you not believe ? And then I wanted to post something to react to what he posted about something of that nature . Okay . And then I thought to myself hey , stupid . And then I thought to myself hey stupid , you're not really going to do anything to this guy Can't change him , right , can't change his thoughts , especially not quoting a bunch of scripture to someone who don't believe in scripture to begin with . Right , never mind , we're not going there , okay .
Speaker 4That's probably a good idea . I will cut that . It really grinds my gears that our society has put us in a mind frame that everyone has to think like we do or they're wrong , and that's so dumb . It is dumb , it gets my goat . It's ridiculous . Well , we're going to have to start something different . What a revolution . Possibly , possibly , well , probably , possibly , probably , possibly , okay , so , but anyway , I'm tired of bitching and moaning now . So that's my goat getter . Yeah , but I was pretty thankful that I had something come over me that stopped me from saying anything , because that would have been dumb . Right , you can look past that . He's still a good person and I'm glad that I was asked to look past that . It sounds like he was a really good teacher . He was Well , that's all that matters . Well , he was until he took a fall and , like you said , not like nowadays where they put their beliefs down your throat Right , you know ? Oh , I'm this . Oh , good for you . Like now , I'm a fucking cat . I shit behind the pallets in a sandbox . Yeah , here , try some friskies cat . Yeah , dumb asses . That's what I'd like to do . Speaker 2I think it takes three to six minutes for a dog to die inside of a car .
Speaker 3It's just dumb Suffocate . I mean it's just terrible . Please , please , if you really love your pet , do not leave them in the car , and if you can't take him in , don't go in .

Speaker 2A dog can survive a lot better at home for an hour or two than sitting in your car while you run dumb errands right right .
Speaker 3Yes , I know that it's great taking the dog with you , but some stores you can take them in yeah , that's fine and and here's a sad little story I do know somebody they had and sometimes it can't be helped and I understand because I was part of this little story , but anyway , uh , my sister , the one who passed away here recently , they had a little dog and they took that little dog everywhere it went .
Speaker 3Little Bit was its name , and they took her everywhere . Well , so naturally , when my sister went to work she hopped in the car thinking she was going , and my sister didn't realize she was in the car . So the little dog was passed when she got back . Oh , that sucks , don't ? I mean it takes two seconds to make sure everything's cool in your car . So I mean , that's just a little sad story . Please , if you have a dog , please don't leave them in your car Even in cold weather .

Years ago we didn't have any bars per se , or if we did , we certainly weren't going to sneak in there because everybody knew everybody . Okay , you're underage , I take it , yeah , well , yeah , certainly weren't going to sneak in there , because everybody knew everybody okay , so let's , you're underage , I take it okay , but they're 30 miles away .
Speaker 3There is another uh little establishment right called the rusty bucket . Come on , yeah , that's what the name of this bar was . Can't make that shit up , the rusty bucket . It was one of the cooler places out west , excellent . So we all get this bright idea we're going to the rusty bucket okay , great . Something sounds like an episode of porkies it kind of was , and without all the sex obviously because , I didn't right right , but anyway I got left .
Speaker 3But so we decide we're going . So we all having this good time at the bar and everybody's dancing and I hook up with this girl and we're dancing and drinking and carrying on and my buddies waving at me from across the bar , they're dancing , having a good time . Well , so we get done dancing , we go back to the bar , get another couple drinks and go to the bathroom , blah , blah , blah . This and that . Walk outside , have a cigarette , come back in . I can't find my buddies .
Speaker 3What happened to them ? They left , they left you . I guess they assumed that I had left with this girl and they said oh okay , well , he can get home then .
Speaker 2Well we're 30 miles away from home In the time it took you to take a piss . Oh no , I'm just saying .
Speaker 3We went piss and then we went outside and smoked a cigarette . We came back here to dance some more . It can't be a big place . Well , it was pretty packed . There's a lot of people in this town , damn , there's a lot of . It was a bigger town , it was a little bigger area , but anyway . So how am I going to get home now ? It's like 2 o'clock in the morning . Where was the girl ? She went home too . Wow , two o'clock in the morning . I have . Where was the girl ? She went home too . Wow , she had to go . Her friends left and took her with them , but my friends , I guess I wasn't as pretty as she was so they left me there hoping somebody'd take me another direction .
Speaker 3Evidently because they did right but anyway , I'll get to that in a minute . So what do you do when you're 30 miles away from home ? At 2 o'clock in the morning , start thumbing . Who do you call ? There's nobody going to be out picking your ass up at 2 o'clock in the morning . Did you call your dad ?
Speaker 2No , your mom .
Speaker 3No , they weren't coming . And who the what'd you do ? Well , turns out , I had a little money in my pocket and I knew where the bus station was , and I knew that , my sister . Well , first I tried to get a bus home . The next bus leaving for my town was the next day at 2 o'clock in the afternoon .
Speaker 2Oh damn Tom .
Speaker 3Not going that way . But they told me that in about 30 to 45 minutes there was going to be a bus arriving and it was going to Goodland , which was another 30 to 45 minutes away from where I was and an hour and a half kind of from where I lived . But here's the bright side my sister lives in Goodland .
Speaker 2Okay .
Speaker 3I can go there Now . Mind you , I was young and no real idea where my sister lived , cause I had never been to this place , cause she just moved there . So I get on this bus , I ride to uh , to Goodland and uh . So I arrive in Goodland around uh , I'd say it's about three o'clock in the morning . Now what do I do ? How do I find my sister .
Speaker 2Here's what for a small town . They had buses still running at that time this was back in shocks me .
Speaker 381 , 82 , that really shocks me . Oh , that's only travel they had back then . I figured everybody was in bed for the evening . Well , most of them were Not the party and teenagers were . We were all running around getting left at bars three towns away , anyway , yeah , so I get up , I'm in this town looking for my sister . Well , what's the best way to find somebody in a town , you know , and there were no cell phones , so it wasn't like I could just call somebody Well , police station .
Speaker 3So I go to the police station , I tell them that I just got off the bus . I'm looking for my sister . Da-da-da Gave her name and everything . Not sure where she lives . Is there any record or anything of this name ?
Speaker 2Did you have to prove who you were ?
Speaker 3Sure .
Speaker 2Yeah , okay .
Speaker 3Sure , I had my little license .
Speaker 2Right .
Speaker 3But no , I didn't use my fake one at this time .
Speaker 2That would have been stupid .
Speaker 3That would have been dumb . I would have ended up on Dumb Crimin , but anyway you'd have a place to sleep for the night . That would have been right yeah see .
Speaker 3So evidently this one cop that was there kind of knew , because their town was a little bit small , so they knew oh yeah , she just moved here she's . Yeah , I know who she is . She works at this , because I told him where she worked and everything . Yeah , she works at this restaurant , she's a waitress and blah , blah , blah . I think I know where she's , at the apartment complex . I don't know what apartment , but I know she lives in an apartment . So I'm thinking I'm going to have to look in this whole apartment complex . So I get there and the whole apartment complex is four apartments and a house . It was a house converted into four apartments .
Speaker 2That's it .
Speaker 3That's it . So it wasn't hard to find her , did you sit ? Outside yelling her name no I walked up through there and I looked for the light , because my sister is a night owl .
Speaker 2Okay .
Speaker 3And when the light came through the door I knew that out of the three and you were hoping .
Speaker 3That had to be her . So I kind of silently tapped , tap , tap , tap on the door and she hesitated for a minute and then said who is it ? I said it's me , tom . She said what the hell ? And I knew I was in the right place . I could hear her coming across the floor . She opens the door and there I am . There she is . What are you doing ? I tell her the whole story .
Speaker 3So now the next dilemma how am I going to get home ? She had no vehicle , she had no nothing . So I'm like well , what she's like . Well , I work with this lady at the restaurant . I said , well , if she can bring me home tomorrow , I have on top of my refrigerator where I was smart enough to leave money so I wouldn't spend it all or get robbed or lose it . Well , I had money on my refrigerator . I said I can pay their gas if they'll take me home . Well , turns out she didn't have to work next day . So their family loaded me up , took me all the way back home . I gave them 40 bucks , 82 . That was 1981 .
Speaker 3Probably fill up her gas tank a couple times . Yeah , they took a big day trip . They went all the way up Nebraska and back around .
Speaker 2So you sponsored their little trip for them I did . That's nice of you .
Speaker 3But I got home .

Speaker 3So the next day I find my buddies who left me Like wow , what happened ? Oh , we waited outside until it closed and everything , and you never came out . So we went home . No , you didn't . So yeah , to answer your question , I have been left at the altar .
