Speaker 2For all of you who don't know , we are in North Carolina and we had a little bit of a storm .

Speaker 3Yeah , and there is so much going on with this storm that we probably have six months of podcasts that we could do on this storm alone and what's going on in western north carolina and south carolina georgia , tennessee , ohio , virginia yeah , I mean , it's just incredible and it's just weird I mean to think a town 300 miles away from any ocean having a hurricane , yeah . In the mountains yeah , that is 2,000 feet above sea level .
Speaker 2Yet it floods .
Speaker 3Yet it floods 20 feet more , in some places 25 . Now the fact that the land is the most valuable land in the world right now because of the lithium that's under there . That's conspiracy theory . Sorry , I don't mean to bring that up .
Speaker 2Yeah , I want to bring that up later , though I don't want to dive into that right now I'm not diving , I want to get into the the tragedy of what's going on with these towns that aren't there ? People still missing ?
Speaker 3And here's the biggest thing .
Speaker 2We'll go down that road , right ? Yeah , we have our opinions on that , but right now I just want to talk about , like I said , what's been going on . I don't even know if things are progressing at all , really .
Speaker 3Well , here's the thing .

Speaker 3Right . I listen to a radio station that's in the midst of all that up in Black Mountain , and they report that they don't know when there will be water in Asheville . There's just no future . There's no real understanding of what we can do to pump fresh water . There's a lot of things going on up there right now .
Speaker 2It's sad , absolutely , absolutely Tom .

Speaker 2I don't even know where to begin on this , because shit .

Speaker 2Bam , it just happened . We knew we were going to get some rain . We knew we'd get some wind . We all knew that Right Even going to get some rain , we knew we'd get some wind . I mean , we all knew that Right Even going to work Friday morning was a trip , that Friday morning .
Speaker 3Coming home was even a longer trip .
Speaker 2Coming home was something else , which usually takes me , on a good day , 12 minutes , on a bad day maybe 20 , most Right Took me over an hour . That's just me that doesn't live in east cupcake , like you , right , and others that live I made pretty good time .
Speaker 3We left work at 10 30 . I finally made it home at two o'clock that afternoon well , that's not bad at all .
Speaker 2No , no , it wasn't bad at all I had to walk some of my way yeah , yeah , you did all the trees down .
Speaker 3It was crazy .
Speaker 2And then again lucky Bonnie and I had planned a vacation to go up and see family up in Massachusetts . Right , we were going to leave Friday after work , which we didn't do . We left at 3.30 on Saturday morning . Was it bad ? I have a generator . I'm one of the lucky ones . I had a generator , so I ran whatever I could until we left and our journey up . Once we got past Hickory , it's flawless Gas stations were open . So yeah , I felt a little guilty , so to speak .
Speaker 3Yeah , my son . He said he felt a little guilty because everybody's power went out at like 9 o'clock on Friday morning and his came back Sunday , you know real early , kind of 1-ish Sunday , right after yeah Right . And we had no power for like six days and we lived seven miles from him , so yeah luckily luckily it's family , though you're right we ran and got water
Speaker 3exactly well water , don't run with no power , right , we did have , but very , very little , very , very , very little loss for us compared to what other people went through . Yeah , exactly , well , that's my point . You know , we lost power . Like I said , we took off . So Very , very , very little loss for us compared to what other people went through .
Speaker 2Yeah , exactly . Well , that's my point . We lost power . Like I said , we took off , so we weren't here . I think that Friday night , a week later , our neighbor texted me and said hey , we got power . So I knew on the way back we'd be all set . But yeah , it's just , you know know lucky the plans worked out for us yeah , I hear a lot of people lost food and food just losing their house .
Speaker 3Your house is washed away more right , but I'm saying around me a lot of people right , I didn't lose any food . I was very lucky . I have two freezers plus you have a grill and yeah , I grilled a little bit , so as it thawed , we grilled . If it or we took it to his house and put it in the freezer . But we were very lucky that six days is all we done without power and it took us back to you know now , you were out cell service too for a while yeah , we really couldn't get a hold of anybody right nobody .
Speaker 3We have family in one of the hardest hit areas up in the the storm area but um , she finally made contact with us like three , four days after the storm okay and they were fine . They really didn't have any loss . They her car , which wasn't running for over a year , washed down the river . But so that that's not a hope , no more . But anyway , she's fine , she , they were , they were fine so awesome , yeah .
Speaker 2And then you know , the further west he went , from us or north of us , that rain , the rain , that did it , tom . Too much rain at one time . Then those winds picked up .
Speaker 3It was yeah . Once the ground is saturated with trees that have been here for years that are over 30 feet tall , top heavy .
Speaker 2They're coming over those pine trees . They're coming over .
Speaker 3A hundred and what ? 50 mile an hour wind gusts . Sometimes I don't know what the gusts were exactly . I really don't .
Speaker 2But they were high up there . Like I said , I could tell by the way the trees top when they're top rooted the way it is . Yeah , there are trees that have been here for years that are just ripped out of the ground , like not just broken roots and all just torn up , ripped right out of the ground .
Speaker 3It's the most massive . I lived through hugo when hugo came through here . Yes , we got a lot of rain with hugo , but we didn't get a lot of the wind . That was torn off of this particular storm and the the wind was the deal with the rain cb .
Speaker 2My experience with the hurricanes obviously were florida , living there for 16 years , right , kind of repetitive every year shutters , no shutters , shutters . But the damage here , besides flooding in Florida damage here is a lot worse . I mean just the telephone poles I saw down .
Speaker 3My little journey home Snapped in half . Hanging there Down , just snapped .
Speaker 2Wires , running over wires , not knowing it , when I'm driving back home .
Speaker 3I mean , it just reminded me of out in Kansas , when a tornado would come through and just devastate one certain little area . Wonder why that house is still there , but the neighbor's house is gone . But this nothing like that .

Speaker 2Well , look at the video we saw of that lady with the house . Well , we're 30 feet above we should be fine it's like 24 hours later right up to her door .
Speaker 3I mean yeah , that's scary as shit . Then the next video you see is her house going down someone else's house that wasn't her house . Yeah , went by her house flowing down the river , the fact that houses are rolling , down rivers .
Speaker 3Did you happen to see , right here in Hickory , even Right Falling down the river ? Well , the fact that houses are rolling down , rivers are . Did you happen to see , right here in Hickory , even at Bethlehem Marina , the bridge going over 127 Bridge , going over Bethlehem ? No , the whole marina was up against the river , going down the river , just breaking apart piece by piece , going under the bridge look what it did to the girders , to those bridges .
Speaker 2It bent them like pretzels . Just think of the pressure of that water . Just crazy stuff yeah , it's messed up people , and there's still a lot of people out there that do need help yes , so go to your local areas and look up who needs help . Go online .

But definitely , yep , there's a lot of people still stuck , a lot of people still missing . Speaker 3But I just watched a commercial the other day about this woman crying because she had this hemorrhage going on when she was in pregnancy . Had this hemorrhage going on when she was in pregnancy , but the doctors couldn't save her because a politician voted against Roe versus Wade , and the materials that were used to stop her bleeding were sometimes used in abortions , so they couldn't find them .
